Bentota has been a popular beach destination among tourist due to its proximity to Colombo and Galle. Travellers will love the wide sandy beaches on the southern end of Bentota, with calm water making it perfect for diving and water sports activities for tourists. Bentota beach is divided into two sections, one being the still water of the Bentota lagoon and the other being the “Paradise Island” on the north. The Bentota Lagoon offers to tourists a wide range of water-sports activities such as wind-surfing, water-skiing, canoeing, banana-boating and deep-sea fishing.
Induruwa is a nice beach located south of Bentota that is safe for swimming for tourists due to its offshore reef.
Galapatha Buddhist Temple
Galapatha Raja Maha Vihare Buddhist temple is a very old Buddhist temple (12th century) in Bentota with stone inscriptions, and stone carvings.
Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery
Kosgoda turtle hatchery is a local turtle watching project setup by the Turtle Conservation project and Sri Lanka Wildlife department. Tourists can find variety of turtle species coming here to hatch eggs and baby turtles in this turtle hatchery.
