Feel like an island king at the fantastic Orchha Palace decorated with turquoise and lapis lazuli. Blush at the incredible erotic paintings of Khajuraho or come for the festival of classical dance in February and March. Marvel at the medieval fort at Gwalior which stretches 3KM accross a giant rock plateau. There are many other gems in Madhya Pradesh the ancient Buddhist Stupa in Sanchi, tribal groups in the north-east and their beautiful crafts, and many ancient forts and temples. Tourist tend to overlook this state even though it has some of the best heritage sites in India and is friendly and relatively hassle free. The hot, sunburnt central plains are landlocked by Bihar, Maharastra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh also has the highest percentage of forest in India and over 20% of the world's tiger population; you can see them in the four national parks; Kanha, Panna, Pench and Bandhavgarh.
  • Raneh Falls
    Named after King Rane Pratap, the erstwhile ruler of the region, Ranesh waterfalls is a real treat to the eyes. A natural water fall on the confluence of Ken and Khuddar River.
  • Kal Bhairava
    According to the Saivite culture, the veneration of the eight Bhairavas is an integral feature of the Hindu customs. The main among these Bhairavas is the Kal Bhairava, assumed to be constructed by the monarch Bhadresen, near the riverbanks of Shipra.

    Memorial of Tansen is dedicated to Tansen and is situated near the tomb of Ghaus. It is built in the memory of Tansen, the great musician and one of the nine gems of Akbar?s court. The annual Tansen Sangeet Samaroh, a world-renowned music festival is held here annually which reveals the rich heritage of classical music in Gwalior
  • Bijasen Tekri
    Bijasen Tekri is an ideal picnic spot surrounded by gardens and a small lake. It offers a breathtaking view of the city and a magnificent view of the sunset. This tekri (hillock) has a temple dedicated to Bijasen Mata which was built in the year 1920.
