Welcome to Pune, one of the biggest industrial towns of Maharashtra. On arrival at Pune airport or Pune railway station, begin your tour of 'Magical Maharashtrian'. You will be met and transferred to Shirdi. On arrival, check into your hotel. The Sai Baba of Shirdi was an Indian guru, yogi, and fakir who is regarded by his Hindu and Muslim devotees as a saint. The history of Shirdi is closely linked with the life of the highly venerated saint Sai Baba who died here in the year 1918, and ever since this town has attained importance as a spiritual and religious center. He used to reside in Khandoba temple, where he got the title of 'Sai' (saint) given by a local villager named Mahalsapathi.The rest of the day is at leisure to explore the holy town of Shirdi on foot. Early in the morning, visit the holy Samadhi Mandir, the shrine of Sai Baba where his mortal remains were interred. (Private) Later in the afternoon, proceed on a half-day excursion to Shani Shingnapur, a shrine dedicated to Lord Shani. This village is an interesting village as none of the houses have doors. The belief of the villagers is that their Lord Shaneshwara will protect them from all evil. This includes robbery and theft. The image of the lord is large and is made of black stone. Only male devotees are permitted to worship in the temple. The devotees should first take bath in the public bathrooms and then pray with wet dhotis without any upper garment.Return to Shirdi by late evening. Overnight in Shirdi.
Today your journey continues to Aurangabad, where on arrival you will check into your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a half day city tour visiting the Panchakki (Water Wheel) followed by a visit to Bibi Ka Maqbara, built in black marble, which is considered to be an imitation of the Taj. Panchakki otherwise known as the water mill was built during the early years of the 17th century. The mill used to grind grains for the pilgrims. The monument Bibi Ka Maqbara was built in 1679 AD by Aurangzeb's son. He built it in memory of his mother Rabia. Ata Ullah was the architect and he based the design on the Taj Mahal. The memorial is built of sandstone with plastered walls and has a marble dome. It has an flowery wall around with an entrance which provides the best view of the memorial. The enclosure of the tomb is made of marble and is octagonal. Finally, visit the Ellora Caves and the Ghrishneshwar Temple - one of the 12 Jyotirlingas (Shrines of Lord Shiva) and the Devgiri Fort - an invincible fort built in 12th century by Bhillama, the king of the Yadav Dynasty.Overnight in Aurangabad.
Today, you will proceed on a full day excursion to Ajanta - a world famous site where one can find the most beautiful paintings and sculptures. (Private) En route you can shop for the famous Himroo Shawls and Paithani Saris. The Ajanta Caves have 30 rock cut Bhuddhist caves . The basic designs of the caves are called 'Chaitya grihas' and 'Viharas'. Five caves are Buddhist cathedrals and the remaining 25 are monasteries.The rest of the day is at leisure.Overnight in Aurangabad.
