Kedarnath is the most remote site among all Char Dhams in Uttarakhand. The Kedarnath temple, the holy shrine of Lord Shiva houses one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The temple lies at a distance of approximately 500m from the helipad and reaching it would take about 15 minutes.
By Air: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun is the nearest airport from Kedarnath, located at a distance of 238 km. It is well-connected to Gaurikund through taxis and buses. From Gaurikund, it is a 14 km trek to Kedarnath. However, an alternative is to skip the trek and opt for helicopter service that is available from Dehradun.
By Rail: The nearest railway station to Kedarnath is Rishikesh, at a distance of 213 km. The railway station is well-connected to major cities and town of India. You can hire a taxi or bus to reach Gaurikund and then further trek to Kedarnath.
By Road: Gaurikund is the nearest motorable area from Kedarnath. Lying on NH 107 which connects Rudraprayag and Kedarnath, Gaurikund is well-connected to all nearby cities like Rishikesh, Haridwar, Dehradun, Pauri, Srinagar, Uttarkashi, Pauri etc by cabs and buses.
